Feature Release: Enhanced Internal Search Function

At Plate, we understand how crucial a website’s search function is—and how challenging effective search can be. Our current search version (V0) didn’t fully meet our customers’ expectations. Based on feedback from multiple clients, we significantly improved the search function in Plate Multisite earlier this year. Starting in March, all users with a search function on their website will gain access to the optimized V1 search engine. The existing V0 version will be phased out by the end of Q2 this year.

Switching to V1 takes just five seconds—simply go to the dashboard and click ‘Search Debug’ in the sidebar.

Additionally, developers can use this debug dashboard to compare V0 and V1 side by side and gain insights into how search results are ranked and filtered based on their content model.

What does this mean for search results on your website(s)?

With V1, you immediately benefit from: Titles now rank higher than body text, improving visibility for key pages.

  • Prioritized Titles: Titles now rank higher than body text, improving visibility for key pages.
  • Smarter Weight Distribution: H1 headings carry more weight than body text.
  • Shorter Titles Rank Higher: This ensures more accurate and relevant search results.

Example: Improved Search Results

Previously, a search for “Delta” in V0 didn’t even list the Delta product page in the top five results.

With V1, Delta appears at the top, with no need for additional tagging or manual adjustments.

Developers can further fine-tune ranking by implementing a front-end tagging system with weighted attributes.

What’s Changed in Plate Multisite?

  • Enhanced Content Indexing – More relevant search results and faster queries.  – Words are broken into smaller segments for better autocomplete and matching.
  •  Smarter Tokenization (N-Grams) – Words are broken into smaller segments for better autocomplete and matching.
  • Advanced Filtering via Liquid – Developers can refine search results with precise filters, making it easier and more efficient to filter by title or content fields like tags.

Ready to Upgrade?
