SEO Feature Release: Standard No-Index and No-Follow Options

Plate introduces two new SEO features to the CMS: the no-index and no-follow options. These features are now available to all our customers, providing greater control over how search engines index and follow content.

What do no-index and no-follow mean?

  • No-index: The no-index feature allows website administrators to inform search engines that certain pages should not be indexed. This means these pages will not appear in search engine results like Google or Bing.

  • No-follow: The no-follow feature lets website administrators specify that search engines should not pass value to certain links on their pages. This prevents search engines from following these links and indexing the linked pages.

Default Settings and Flexibility

By default, all pages on the Plate platform are set to index and follow, meaning they are indexed by search engines and links are followed. With the new features, you can set your preferences for no-index and no-follow on a per-page basis, allowing for a customized SEO strategy.

The no-index and no-follow features can be found under the SEO settings of your page.

Applications

  • No-index: Suitable for pages that do not add value to search engines, such as thank you pages, login pages, or test pages. This helps optimize crawl efficiency and ensures that only relevant content is indexed.

  • No-follow: Useful for links to untrusted or paid content, such as advertisements. This prevents search engines from passing link value, contributing to a healthy link structure on the website.
